The Goverment is not the solution, the government is the problem
1 or 2 months back I went to my first play, called "Trash" by Drama Box, is Mandarin. It's refreshing and FREE!! Why is it free? Because my company is one the sponsor. It was held at the Esplanade in a small studio, like mini cathay cinema at Shaw House just that there's no screen and no stage.
Before I went the studio, the staff of Drama Box brought a board of stickers and asked everyone to peel off one. Behind every stickers, there's a prize or a message saying something like you did not win anything. And I won nothing but just the message and my colleague won a packet of mini colourful sea creatures which was very old school and we didn't know what to do. And we were like "Erm.... OK... Very surprising prize..." After the "lucky draw" we were choose to be elite or trash. Well... the play was "Trash" right? So i chose Trash and had a "Trash" sticker across my right sleeve. And my colleagues chose "Elite". we thought some surprising will happen.
So we went in the studio and i was asked to sit separately from the "Elites". (Actually was a just a line separating the seats). Being a ignorant of the "purpose" the sitting arrangement, i exclaimed: "Huh?! i wanna sit with my frens lei." The ushers said i could sit along the line, next to my colleagues. There was no surprise, just the usher at the "Trash" side had bad attitude towards the audience on the "Ttrash" side. He even asked my colleagues ehether am I disturbing them. Good try lor... I got it, finally. And the usher at the "Elite" side welcome the audience warmly and politely. I simply got it. Elites get the nice treatment and the trash get the bad treatment.
The show started. The place was a national parade and i heard Xiao Lee speech saying "No one is left behind." Wicked... No story telling here. Too lor soh. Summary: Chen Xioahua not an elite because she knew nuts about English so she has no right to give birth. Why couldn't give birth? Because her child will had bad genes. Crap lor. But she was pregnant already. How? The Govt wanted her to abort but she refuse and ran away and become wanted. A Superman who was "Perfect world" pursuer came to her help. In Pefect World, everyone is the same, no inequality, no cast system, actually is a communist place. The Superman is a leader of a perfect world who sarcrificed his child in exchange 1000 years to live, to get 10,000 believer to the Perfect world within 1000 years. And Chen Xiaohua was the 10,000th. Chasing of Chen Xiaohua, a low down thief and Superman, the Gov was touched by Superman's believe of Perfect world. So What!
But Superman's child and wife died so was Superman, but the Perfect World was still not perfect, because still lack of 1 more believer of Perfect World.
Good play I must say, was a good one for my first time. Clap clap clap. I'm not a critic just wanna share my first time. Kekekeke...
Can't believe my company is the sponsor because we liase a lot with PAP and throughout the play, they keep playing this speech by "Don't know who" saying "The Goverment is not the solution, the government is the problem".
And why after so long and i wanna talk about "Trash"? Cause my mind keep spinning "The Goverment is not the solution, the government is the problem".
